Using the smaller needles and Color A, cast on 132 stitches. Mark your first stitch. Join, and working in the round work in single rib (knit 1 purl 1) for one inch.

All following rows are stocking stitch (knit all until shaping begins, then alternate knit and purl rows).

Change to larger needles and Color B. Increase 22 stitches evenly across the first row for a total of 154 stitches. Knit one more row in Color B. These are the first two rows of Chart A. Continue Chart A, then change to Color A and knit five rows. Begin Chart B.

The remaining rows will be knit in the following colors:
2 rows Color A
3 rows Color C
5 rows Color B
8 rows Color A
12 rows Color C

The pattern for these rows is as follows
Slip first stitch onto a holder or a spare bit of yarn. This will be the bottom of one of the armholes.

K2tog, knit 71, ssk. 73 stitches.

Slip next stitch onto a holder or a spare bit of yarn. This will be the bottom of the other armhole.

Slip the remaining 77 stitches onto a holder.

Return to the 73 stitches. Work in stocking stitch in the color pattern above for 24 rows, decreasing one stitch on each end of every sixth row. 67 stitches.

Work across first 23 stitches; place next 21 stitches on a holder; work across remaining 23 stitches. (use different strands of yarn for each 23)

Work remaining rows of each shoulder in stocking stitch, decreasing once more at the arm edge, and decreasing one stitch at the neck edge on the purl rows. 20 stitches per shoulder. If you plan to join the shoulders using 3-needle bind off or Kitchener stitch, place remaining stitches on holders, leaving a long tail. Otherwise, cast off.

Move the 77 front stitches onto the needles.

K2tog, knit across to the last 2 stitches, ssk. 75 stitches.

Work 35 stitches; p2tog.

Slip next stitch onto a holder or a spare bit of yarn. This will be the bottom of the v-neck.

p2tog, work remaining 35 stitches. (use different strands of yarn for each 37)

Work in stocking stitch in the color pattern above for 24 rows, decreasing one arm edge stitch every sixth row, and one neck edge stitch every fourth and seventh row.

Beginning the next row, decrease one stitch at the neck edge every row. Decrease once more at the arm edge on the seventh row from the previous arm edge decrease. 20 stitches per shoulder. If you plan to join the shoulders using 3-needle bind off or Kitchener stitch, place remaining stitches on holders, leaving a long tail. Otherwise, cast off.

Finishing:
Join the shoulder seams.

For each armhole, with RS facing and using smaller needles, starting with bottom stitch of the armhole, using Color A, pick up and knit 60 stitches evenly around armhole. Work in single rib for one inch, bind off in rib.

For neckband, with RS facing and using smaller needles, pick up and knit 26 stitches down right front neck, place marker, pick up stitch on holder at bottom of vee, place marker, pick up 26 stitches up left front neck, and 21 stitches from holder across back neck edge. 74 stitches.

Join, and work in the round in single rib to 2 stitches before the first marker, ssk, k1, k2tog, finish row in single rib. Repeat this row until neckband measures one inch wide. Bind off in rib.

Weave in all ends.
