The Gildonae Alliance

My latest audiobook is The Gildonae Alliance, the second Aerenden book, by Kristen Taber.

Several months after Meaghan’s return to Ærenden, the kingdom’s war has taken a turn for the worse. The Mardroch army hunts the new King and Queen, destroying villages in its wake. And Meaghan and Nick, training for battle in their remote section of wilderness, are far from safe. Danger hides in shadows and behind innocent faces. Allies become foes. Each day is a fight to survive. But in the end, only one threat matters. And it’s a threat they never see coming.

A Cup of Jo by Sandra Balzo

My latest audiobook is book 6 in the Maggy Thorsen coffeehouse mystery series by Sandra Balzo, A Cup of Jo.

Maggy’s heart, uncharacteristically, is swelling with optimism. Sure, her original Wisconsin coffeehouse, Uncommon Grounds, was destroyed in a freak early May blizzard. But, thanks to friend and new business partner, Sarah Kingston, a perfect location for its successor has been found in a quaint Brookhills railroad station recently revitalized by the creation of a commuter-rail connection between the old depot and the city of Milwaukee, fifteen miles east.

Maggy and Sarah hope to piggyback the grand reopening of Uncommon Grounds on the media coverage of Dedication Day for the train’s two terminal points. Maggy even digs deep into her development budget and commissions a giant inflatable Uncommon Grounds coffee cup for the celebrations. All seems perfectly poised for the great day, until Brookhills’ in absentia event manager, JoLynne Penn-Williams, finally makes her appearance – as a corpse in Maggy’s piece de resistance…

The Quest for the Immortal Walker by Katie Paterson

My latest audiobook is the final book in the Chronicles of Valonia by Katie Paterson, The Quest for the Immortal Walker.

The Master of Hades has waited centuries to fill the world with his evil, and now he has his chance, with his despicable sorceress and his heinous creatures of death. Only the Immortal Walker can stop this catastrophe, and it is Rachel and Gareth’s final quest to find him. But who is the Immortal Walker and where is he?

Faced with dangerous situations the twins have to battle on and solve the mystery, before the Master of Evil takes over. But can Rachel and Gareth do this, and will they be in time to save the world from the eternal fires of Hades and its Supreme Master of Darkness? The Quest for the Immortal Walker is the fourth and last of the Chronicles of Valonia series.

More Dolittle!

The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle is now up on LibriVox. Had to do a lot more editing on this one to get it to match the PD gutenberg.org text; it has a lot more “great white hope” stuff that’s offensive to modern sensibilities, that had been edited out of the text I originally recorded.

From the Grounds Up by Sandra Balzo

The fifth Maggy Thorsen book is out on Audible! From the Grounds Up by Sandra Balzo.

When Maggy Thorsen’s coffee house, Uncommon Grounds, is virtually obliterated by a snowstorm, she and her friend Sarah resolve to reopen – and Maggy’s found the perfect spot near the train station, just in time for the opening of the new commuter route. But when Sarah’s uncle dies suddenly, in the first of a series of ‘accidents,’ it is clear that someone doesn’t want Uncommon Grounds to reopen. Maggy, however, has no intention of yielding…

Doctor Dolittle

I recently recorded the two Doctor Dolittle books for The Sound Way. These books will only be available through their program, but, after a bit of editing to make sure I was using a completely public domain version, I have released the first of the two books on LibriVox: The Story of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting. Book 2 coming up shortly.

Aerenden: The Child Returns by Kristen Taber

My latest audiobook has been released. Aerenden: The Child Returns by Kristen Taber. This is the first book in the Aerenden series.

Seventeen-year-old Meaghan has no idea her perfect life has been a lie – until she witnesses her parents’ brutal murders at the hands of red-eyed creatures.

After nearly sharing their fate, she escapes with her best friend, Nick, who tells her the creatures are called Mardroch. They come from another world, and so does she. Now that the Mardroch have found her, she must return to her homeland of Aerenden or face death.

Left with little choice, she follows Nick into a strange world both similar to Earth and drastically different. Vines have the ability to attack. Monkeys freeze their victims with a glare. Men create bombs from thin air. Even Meaghan’s newly discovered empath power turns into a danger she cannot control. However, control becomes the least of her worries once the Mardroch begin targeting her. When Nick confesses he knows the reason they want her, she learns the truth behind the kingdom’s fifteen-year civil war – a long-buried secret that could cost Meaghan her life.

Asian-American Life Stories

For my latest audiobook, a bit of non-fiction, Asian-American Life Stories, a series of essays written by 11 young Asian-Americans, edited by Benjamin Choe.

Asian-American Life Stories is a very important audiobook for the study of Asian-Americans in the United States of America. This audiobook contains autobiographical writings by 11 young Asian-American leaders, who represent various segments of the Asian immigrant population in the United States. Many of the autobiographies, therefore, contain very valuable historical and sociological date for understanding the Asian experience in the United States.

This audiobook is ideal for use in the classroom at the high school and college levels, and can provide valuable points of reference for in-class discussions. Listeners will learn a lot about what it means to be an Asian in the United States. Furthermore, the real-life stories in this book are interesting as the young Asian-American leaders who share about their lives are very interesting, indeed. This book is edited by Benjamin Choe, whose grandmother served in the Korean government, as one of the most influential women in South Korea.
